Popis: The fundamental right to education expressed in the Brazilian Federal Constitution of 1988 has not yet been consolidated. School education and the professional development of indigenous teachers are challenges to be faced through the guarantee and offer of training and working conditions that are appropriate to the cultural realities of indigenous communities. Therefore, the present study aims to analyze the professional profile of indigenous teachers in the school system of Marechal Thaumaturgo/Acre. This is a study of mixed nature, which involved bibliographic study and document analysis in its methodological path through exploratory and descriptive research. The results revealed that the teaching staff of the indigenous schools in the education network of Marechal Thaumaturgo/Acre is made up of indigenous teachers with elementary and high school degrees, with only one teacher with an academic degree in a specific degree in the year 2020. As for professional experience, there was a high turnover of indigenous teachers due to the absence of effective contractual relationship, highlighting the urgent need to implement a qualified and continuous training plan for indigenous teachers who already exercise the teaching function, as well as for indigenous schools at all levels and stages of education.
