Popis: leads to a marked inflammatory response with secretion of IL6, IL8 and TNFe. Breast Milk and Modulin significantly decreased IL6, IL8 and TNFe secretion by between 50 and 75%. Boost decreased IL8 secretion but had no effect on IL6 or TNF~ secretion. Ensure Plus had no effect on secretion of cytokines. This is the first time, in vitro, that nutritional therapies have been shown to modulate the inflammatory response of stimulated intestinal epithelial cells. The mechanisms leading to the down regulation of the inflammatory response require further elucidation.
