Popis: | This chapter offers a different take on social media by assessing the emerging character of cyberdeviance through the lens of emotional reflexivity. Emotional reflexivity can be defined as the intersubjective interpretation of one’s own and others’ emotions and how they are enacted. The chapter investigates deviant online behaviour from trolling and bullying to misinformation campaigns in order to better understand these new social media landscapes of social interaction. The chapter covers the new emotional dynamics that populate these online spaces as extreme and disorientating practices are normalized. It emphasizes the importance of engaging and developing the literature around cyberdeviance in a manner that identifies netizens as passionate and reflective agents in order to avoid sinking into dystopian depictions of all online deviant behaviour as negative. |
