Popis: | Oxytocic (uterine-stimulating) substances have been demonstrated in extracts of both human and ram semen. A modification of the method for extracting oxytocin from blood (Bisset, Walker 1954) was used (14). Some physicochemical and pharmacological properties of these extracts were investigated, and the evidence suggests that the active uterine-stimulating material in human semen differs from that in ram semen, and neither is considered to be oxytocin, potassium, acetylcholine, 5-hydroxytr}rptamine, histamine, hypertensin (angiotonin or angiotensin), substance P, kinin (bradykinin, kallidin, pain producing substance, substance U, substance Z), vasopressin (antidiuretic hormone), pepsitensin, pepsitocin, pepsanurin or the oxytocic substance found in blood. |
