Popis: | Two salivary 20-kDa proteins [the human lipocalin Von Ebner's gland protein (VEGh) and extra-parotid glycoprotein (EP-GP)] show several remarkable similarities and differences. The latter is identical to secretory actin-binding protein (SABP), gross cystic disease fluid protein-15 (GCDFP-15), prolactin-induced protein (PIP), and 17-kDA CD4-binding glycoprotein (gpl7). Much is known about the distribution, localization, biochemical characteristics, and molecular biology of these two proteins, yet there are only few clues about their functions. |
