Electronic structure studies of La2CuO

Popis: We report results of positron-electron momentum-distribution measurements of single-crystal ${\mathrm{La}}_{2}$Cu${\mathrm{O}}_{4}$ using two-dimensional angular correlation of positron-annihilation-radiation techniques. The data contain two components: a large (\AA{}85%), isotropic corelike electron contribution and a remaining anisotropic valence-electron contribution modeled using a linear combination of atomic orbitals-molecular orbital method and a localized ion scheme, within the independent-particle model approximation. This work suggests a ligand-field Hamiltonian to be justified for describing the electronic properties of perovskite materials.
