The versatility of the laser intensity modulation method (LIMM) will be discussed concerning the interpretation of polarization distributions in multilayer films. Our LIMM equipment has been used to study monolayers, a bimorphic, and a four-layer filmof PVDF. The growth of the polarization is measured in dependence on temperature for monolayer films. The poling dynamics is governed by thermally stimulated phase transitions and can be interpreted by an Arrhenius model. The LIMM capabilities and limitations are discussed for multilayer samples, including interfacial space charge effects between polarized and nonpolarized layers. ispartof: Polymeric Layers pages:23-37 ispartof: PROGRESS IN COLLOID AND POLYMER SCIENCE vol:85 pages:23-37 ispartof: 7th International Seminar on Polymer Physics location:Güntersberge 1990 status: published |
