Switched reluctance motors (SRMs) suffer from the high commutation torque ripples caused by the inherent pulsive torque generation mechanism. To address this issue, different advanced methods, such as the torque sharing function (TSF) method, the direct instantaneous torque control (DITC) method, and the model predictive torque control (MPTC) method, are proposed in the literature. In order to investigate the advantages and torque control performance of each method, especially at heavy load and wide speed range conditions, this paper presents a comprehensive comparison among the most advanced methods of the above three categories. The simulation results of these three advanced methods are presented at a wide speed range and heavy load conditions. According to the comparison presented in this paper, guidance can be provided for researchers and engineers in selecting the torque control method for certain applications. |
