Ultra Wide Band (UWB) transceivers that are compliant to IEEE 802.15.4a standard do not provide distance measurement on their own. Instead, they incorporate a high-frequencycounter (e.g. 64 GHz) and a precise timestamp mechanism foroutgoing and incoming data frames. The distance measurementhas to be implemented by external software. Different localization schemes exist but these are optimized toprovide the position information in the fixed anchor nodes first. The anchor nodes then have to use additional transmissions tosend the information to the mobile node. The term autonomous (mobile) node should mean that theposition data is required by each mobile node itself. Thenew proposed localization algorithm accumulates the requiredlocalization information in the mobile node first by using fewertransmissions (and therefore less time and energy) than existingalgorithms. |
