Popis: Priodax or β-(4-hydroxy-3,5 diiodophenyl)-α-phenyl propionic acid, became available for use in our hospital in May 1944. Prior to that date, various reports (1—6, 8) had appeared which led to the belief that the use of this new contrast medium was accompanied by no unpleasant symptoms, or at most by symptoms which were negligible. It was therefore decided to interview and record the reactions of the first 250 patients to receive Priodax for gallbladder examination and at the same time to study its efficacy for cholecystography. The preparation of the patient was exactly the same as had previously been practised with sodium iodophthalein. The usual lunch was given on the day before the examination. The evening meal was fat-free. One hour after the meal, six Priodax tablets were given according to the instructions on the containers (1 tablet every five minutes, with a sip of water or fruit juice).
