Popis: | Geriatric design is one of the prime concerns for socially inclusive architectural design. When the age increases, the needs of older adults surge, and there is a commensurate rise in the degree of support, particularly living space requirements. In the Covid-19 pandemic situation, when people need to maintain social distancing, it's urgent to rethink the space of traditional housing. There is a particular restriction for older adults to go outside during the lockdown as they are the most vulnerable to the covid-19 virus. Meanwhile, they have to stay confined in congested apartment buildings like a cage in Dhaka city. It is densely populated, and most apartment buildings are built without maintaining rules; therefore, the interior spaces are mostly shadowed and unhealthy for adults. Their compact size is also a concern for cohabitation with their family members and having to do their activities within this space. This research focuses on the household space limitations for elderly members in apartment buildings of Dhaka city during the pandemic situation. The sizes of the apartments, along with the room for the elderly, their satisfaction level regarding comfort, security, size of the room, exercise space, space for storage, space for their caretaker, their psychological state during covid pandemic situation etc., have been reviewed through an online questionnaire. This survey was conducted from September to October of 2021 after the peak situation of Covid in July-August. Mostly, the elderly citizens have suffered from the space constraint and have to accept it unwillingly. Therefore, architects, developers, and clients should be more concerned about the elderly-friendly home being ergonomic, environment-friendly, and psychologically soothing so they can cohabit comfortably. {"references":["Sonal, S., & Anupadma, R.
