This document is MINKE’s Deliverable 9.2 “Common recommendations for Horizon Europe funding”. It summarises the problems in relation to the measurement of absolute salinity in terms of definition of the measurand, lack of certified reference materials, consistency of time scale and fields data or uncertainties in the quantification of high-pressure measurement instruments. It gives arguments to fund R&D in absolute salinity measurement, some ideas for developing new instruments and how to communicate with research infrastructure in order to integrate the new developments in the oceanographic community. |
