Popis: The seeds germination of root parasites like Orobanche and Striga depends on chemical products exuded from the roots of the host plant, known as germination stimulants (GS). Knowledge about the biochemical and genetic bases of production in host plants of these recognition molecules may answer many questions about mechanisms of co-evolution of parasites and their hosts and on the other hand will lead to the development of new practical measures for control of crops harming parasitic species. The aim of the work presented in this article was to perform large-scale screening of 8600 Arabidopsis activation tag mutants for alteration in susceptibility to Orobanche infestation and to identify among them lines with altered GS production. After fi ve successive screening we managed to fi nd eighteen activation tag Arabidopsis mutant lines with altered susceptibility to Orobanche. Three of these lines have also altered levels of GS production.
