Popis: | Hypercalciuria due to primary hyperparathyroidism (pHPT) is a risk factor for renal stone formation, yet only a minority of patients form calculi. Despite several studies, the effect of parathyroidectomy on the risk of developing further urolithiasis is uncertain. This study compared the biochemistry of pHPT patients with and without renal stones undergoing a parathyroidectomy with that of idiopathic stone formers, and determined the incidence of new stone disease in each group during follow-up. |
