Popis: | With the growing popularity of angioplasty (particularly angioplasty of the superficial femoral artery [SFA] and more distal arteries) and of catheter placement for infusion of chemotherapeutic and thrombolytic agents, antegrade positioning of catheters has become increasingly important. Antegrade positioning can be accomplished either by direct puncture or by a change in catheter direction. We previously described several methods for changing catheter direction involving catheters and defiectors of various shapes [1 , 2]. Recently, we have developed a special directional accordion catheter that also permits antegrade catheter placement from a retrograde or vertical puncture. This catheter is currently available from N-S Medical (Gainesville, FL). |
