Popis: In the late eighties several experts in the field of tree physiology in particular in tree functioning as affected by air pollutants and elevated CO2, decided to join forces in order to establish a realistic picture of the response of deciduous and coniferous trees to global climate change. These experts represented research groups in Austria, Belgium, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. Several joint studies were carried out and it was soon realised, that an EC COST Action was a most appropriate instrument to organise a European framework for this type of multidisciplinary research.
