| Popis: | RECEBIDO EM 05 MAR 2017 APROVADO EM 30 MAR 2017 Neste trabalho, buscamos identificar em filmes de David Cronenberg, Ridley Scott, John Carpenter e outros realizadores o dialogo com a literatura de horror, mais especificamente com os contos de H.P. Lovecraft (1890-1937). Revisitando a tese da inadaptabilidade de Lovecraft, veremos como os contos do escritor estadunidense exerceram grande apelo nas decadas finais do seculo XX, e tem se mostrado fonte recorrente para o cinema contemporâneo. Nesse sentido, propomos observar obras-chave do cinema de horror e ficcao cientifica dos anos de 1970 e 1980, relacionando-as aos temas filosoficos, esteticos e mitologicos elaborados por Lovecraft, dentro do momento historico em que foram produzidas. // In this paper, we seek to identify in the oeuvre of David Cronenberg, Ridley Scott, John Carpenter and other filmmakers the dialogue with horror literature, more specifically with the short stories of H.P. Lovecraft (1890-1937). Revisiting the theory that considers Lovecraft unadaptable for the screen, we will see how the stories of the American writer exerted great appeal in the final decades of the twentieth century, and have proven to be a recurring source for contemporary cinema. In this sense, we propose to observe key works of horror and science fiction cinema of the 1970s and 1980s, relating them to the philosophical, aesthetic and mythological themes elaborated by Lovecraft, within the historical moment in which these films were produced.
