Popis: | Special-conditioned medium prepared from overgrown cultures of murine leukemic cells was found to support short-term reproduction (24–96 hr) of human leukemic cells in culture. Failure of three preparations to grow in culture may be due to the instability of the special medium when stored for more than 5 days. Leukemic cell preparations from 12 patients had a variable growth response in vitro and also exhibited a different and characteristic sensitivity to anti-cancer agents. The selection of specific anti-cancer agents for treatment of leukemic patients may be possible with the development of this drug-sensitivity test in vitro . |
