Popis: | This comparative study shows that the plaque mutant, p-1a, is antigenically identical to the wild type parent vesicular stomatitis virus. Several properties of the mutant are strikingly different from those of the parent strain, including plaque size, growth rate, pathogenicity and the number of bands as demonstrated in density gradients. However, the immunodiffusion and immunoelectrophoretic properties of these viruses appear identical. Since the mutant, p-1a, is stable and relatively easy to handle in the laboratory, it may become a useful agent in viral genetic studies. |
