Popis: This study required a methodology that was robust enough to capture the complexities of a 21st century classroom and hence a case-study methodology is applied to enable in-depth and extensive exploration (Yin, 2009). Within this design a mixed methods approach is applied, incorporating both qualitative and quantitative data collections methods to develop the necessary protocols. This case study approach is also informed by aspects of Post occupancy evaluation. Post occupancy evaluation (POE) systematically reviews occupants’ perceptions and experience of their building (Li, Froese & Brager, 2018). The multi-disciplinary research team, comprising educators, an acoustic engineer and an architect, worked with five primary school teachers, all of whom were working in a shared flexible/open plan learning environment.
