Popis: | Cell suspensions were prepared from rat kidney by passing minced tissue through a 35 mesh stainless steel screen. The cells were viable and respiration was linear with time. L-thyroxine at a concentration of 10 −5 molar depressed respiration with an hour. The degree of response was directly related to the dose of thyroxine used. Triiodothyronine and D-thyroxine had a similar effect. Potassium iodide, diiodotyrosine or thyronine did not alter respiration. Albumin or serum appeared to block the action of thyroxine. |
