Popis: Open research can (soon) become the norm in language science. Major funders and journals have begun to encourage or require more open and transparent research execution and dissemination. Marsden and Morgan-Short review the current state, potential challenges, and the reasons for optimism for open research in the field, and close by suggesting that open research practices are the future. As junior researchers, an early-career scholar and two graduate students, we, too, are sometimes referred to as the future of the field. In a way, there is no need for us to change our research practices because open science is the only way we have learned to conduct research, thanks to our mentors who support open scholarship wholeheartedly. Therefore, junior scholars can potentially drive important changes in the field, and hence our perspectives can bring insights into the current open research movement. We will start by illustrating how junior scholars can benefit from open research practices as research training, followed by a discussion on what junior scholars can offer. We conclude by calling for an incentive structure that can help us help the field move toward openness and transparency.
