Popis: Our article is a brief overview of what education for sustainability means - a continuous mission and an assumed one for continuity in higher education institutions from whole over the world. Some theoretical and practical models found in the literature and/or used by various universities are presented. At the end of our paper we presented selectively some results of an extended diagnostic analysis regarding the opinions and expectations of stakeholders (students and professors) on the education for sustainability, analysis that has been conducted in the framework of a project implemented in 2019 at “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University of Iași, Romania. The role of information technologies, factor of major importance especially in this period, is highlighted.
