Conceptions of the teaching profession and their influence on teacher education. A comparative study

Lo resultados evidencian que las concepciones de los estudiantes se centran en el interes por desarrollar habilidades pedagogicas que les hagan competentes en el ejercicio de su profesion y asi aportar desde su labor diaria a la transformacion de los sistemas educativos EnglishThis research article aims to identify the conceptions that trainee teachers have about the motivations for choosing undergraduate programs. The methodological approach was oriented on the quantitative paradigm and a survey was applied to 255 students from two undergraduate programs offered at the Faculty of Education of a Colombian public university. The results show that the students’ conceptions focus on the interest in developing pedagogical skills that make them competent in the exercise of their profession and thus contribute from their daily work to the transformation of educational systems.
