Popis: | Three loop diuretics, frusemide, piretanide and bumetanide, were administered to pigmented guinea pigs by intraperitoneal injection and effects upon cochlear succinic dehydrogenase were studied. All three compounds caused a reduction in the succinic dehydrogenase reaction in stria vascularis and in the organ of Corti. Frusemide and piretanide were more effective in inhibiting the succinic dehydrogenase reaction in the outer hair cells, inner hair cells being less affected. This difference was not evident with bumetanide which appeared to affect all hair cells equally. |
