Popis: The only active compounds able to control phytoplasmas are the antibiotic oxytetracyclines and the direct and fast screening of new antimicrobials compounds on media is very complicated due to the difficulty to culture phytoplasmas. A simple and reliable screening method to evaluate the effects of antimicrobial compounds on phytoplasmas by an ex-vivo approach was developed. By the use of scanning electron microscopy in parallel with molecular tools the direct activity of tetracyclines on phytoplasmas was verified.
