Popis:	Clones of amoebae which are normally “immortal” can be given a defined life span. By exchanging nuclei between normal and spanned clones, we have shown that factors conveying the “spanning” characteristic are associated with both nucleus and cytoplasm. When a small amount of homogenized spanned cytoplasm is injected into a normal amoeba, the clone arising from that individual may be spanned.
