Popis: | Reports on measurements of total cholesterol and phospholipid levels in Nigerian mothers and newborns and examines correlations between maternal and fetal lipid levels infant sex and birth weight. Blood samples for measurement of lipid levels were obtained from mothers experiencing normal deliveries immediately after delivery and from cord blood. Cholesterol and phospholipid levels were found to be significantly lower in the infants than in their mothers and higher in female than in male infants. No correlation between lipid levels and birth weights was found. |
