Tracer mass fraction as a function of the fractional mass discharged from silo step-change experiments. In each plot the monodisperse tracer is quantified by the colour (a layer of blue tracer particles sit above a layer of yellow ones), while in the bidisperse case the tracer is quantified by particle size. The left plot shows the discharge of a monodisperse and bidisperse mixtures in a silo with no insert. The right plot is the same as the left except that there is a flow-correcting insert placed in the silo. |
