Popis: | Extrapolations of ‘Swanson's Law’ (a learning curve) and its replot project that solar cells (predominately crystalline Si so far) can match the world's current power generating capacity at lower costs than fossil fuels and with a net gain in jobs — all by 2032. Existing wind and solar cell resources are sufficient for this transition. If wind and solar variability can be accommodated, greenhouse gas emissions (from burning fossil fuels) can be eliminated 18 years earlier than others propose. This is probably necessary to avoid disastrous climate change, which is likely irreversible over a 1000's-of-years-time-frame, if all fossil fuels are burned. |
