Popis: | Background: The results of epidemiological studies concerning neurological outcome of preterm newborns revealed beneficial effects of maternal magnesium sulphate administration on reduction of intracranial hemorrhage and periventricular leukomalacia and consequently the incidence of cerebral palsy. One hypothesis for this fact is modulation of inflammatory response by elevated magnesium (Mg2+) concentration. |
