Popis: Picosecond time-dependent fluorescence depolarization has been used to measure the time of rotational diffusion for sulforhodamine 101 and nile blue in a series of alcohols. The experimental dependence of the rotational relaxation times on viscosity of the solvent is compared with the hydrodynamic predictions. The effects of hydrogen bonding on the rotational motion are discussed.
