Popis: Gamma‐ray bursts are ultra‐relativistic explosions resulting in some cases from the death of massive stars. Numerical modeling of these explosions is challenging because of the extreme Lorentz factors (Γ≳100) and the range of length scales encountered. Simulations of collapsar disks and afterglow jets are being undertaken with a new special relativistic hydrodynamics code RAM (Zhang & MacFadyen 2005) utilizing adaptive mesh refinement (AMR) in order to cover the large dynamical range necessary to adequately resolve thin relativistic structures.
