Popis: | Peripheral arterial occlusive disease is related to lifestyle and it is becoming more common in Hong Kong. The management of this disease consists of lifestyle modification and exercise training. If the symptoms are severe, endovascular treatment can provide quick relief. Iliac stenting produces better results than angioplasty, but it is more cost-effective if it is applied selectively. Femoropopliteal artery occlusive diseases should be treated with angioplasty. In selected cases, subintimal angioplasty or stent grafts can be used. Re-occlusion after intervention is mainly as a result of intimal hyperplasia. It can be prevented by endovascular irradiation or, possibly, drug-eluting stents. |
