Popis: ‘Technoference’ is a term introduced by McDaniel & Radesky (2018). It can be described as the way in which technological devices can interfere or disrupt usual, day to day family interactions (Collins, n.d.). Research has suggested that technoference may affect infants' developing vocabulary (Corkin et al., 2021). This study partially replicates Corkin et al. (2021) and will use simple linear regression to ascertain if technoference is able to predict the development of vocabulary in infants. The hypothesis for this study is, higher levels of technoference will be associated with lower levels of infant vocabulary. Data will be collected from approximately 55 primary caregivers of 18-24 month old children, using a five-question self administered survey about technoference (questions selected from Corkin et al., 2021), and the MacArthur-Bates CDI (short form) questionnaire to measure infant vocabulary development. Information about the demographics of both infant and caregiver will be collected as well. Correlation and simple linear regression will be used to analyse the data, with the predictor variable being the overall technoference score from the five technoference questions and the dependent variable being infant vocabulary size.
