Direct two-photon absorption of Gd(OH)3 and GdCl3 in an applied magnetic field

Popis: Polarized two-photon excitation spectra of the UV fluorescence of Gd(OH)3 have been investigated at very low temperatures with an applied magnetic field. The anomalously high intensities as well as polarization dependence of 6P 7 2 Stark components are analysed, showing the dominant contribution of the third-order mechanism involving the spin-orbit interaction.
