Popis: Grape growing is adopted globally but location and climate affect the suitability of grape growing in a particular region. Grape originated from a temperate region and winemaking started traditionally. Production of quality grapes is influenced by the variability in weather conditions from year-to-year and is known as the vintage effect. The old wine world’s regions mainly depend on traditionally-cultivated varieties due to the belief that newly-bred varieties cannot compete on wine quality while wild grapevines are on the verge of extinction as they are threatened in their natural habitats. Wines became more and more popular in almost all countries across the continents. It is easily observed by looking at the trend of grape production for winemaking. Vineyards are emerging in new and surprising places to meet the ever-growing demand. Climatic conditions of a particular geographic location define the suitability based on yield and quality of grapes.
