College Students’ Perspectives on Parental Notification and Parent-Student Communication on Student Alcohol Use

Popis:	College students’ perceptions of parental notification (PN) were examined. Anonymous surveys were received from 72 students who had received a notification and 73 students who had not. Students reported that PN increased parent-student communication. While noting interference with their autonomy, students also reported more positive than negative outcomes in response to a notification. Students who received a notification still reported poorer communication with their parents than did students who did not receive a notification. Implications for working with parents and students are discussed.
