Popis: The present study aims to determine the percentage of discharge and sediments diverted to the intake in a 90° convergent bend. The effective variables include Froude number, convergence, and the angle of submerged vanes. According to the results, the diverted discharge and sediments to the intake increase by converging the laboratory flume. This could be due to narrowing and obstruction of the flow, the consequent rejection of the flow and sediments to the intake. Diverted discharge and sediments to the intake are decreased by installing submerged vanes. A decrease in the angle of submerged vanes reduces the diverted discharge and sediments. In comparison to the model without submerged vanes, the discharge and sediments diverted to the intake are decreased. Accordingly, it could be stated that the 25° submerged vanes lead to the greatest decrease in sediment input in the convergence of 0 (normal river wide).
