The textbook considers the features and basic functions of soil as the main means of agricultural production and the most important resource of human; data on land resources of the planet and Ukraine are given; the main factors of degradation, soil contamination, causing their loss of fertility. The issues of prevention of fertility loss and control of soil degradation and pollution, as well as features of rational use, reclamation and protection of irrigated and disturbed lands are covered.
