Popis: In recent years, attempting to guarantee the security of electricity systems has become crucial to achieving future world economic prosperity and energy security. Therefore, various research attempts have been made to investigate the security of electricity systems. Nevertheless, the wide range concept of security, different methodologies, and presented frameworks make the interpretation and proper implementation of such attempts difficult to achieve. This paper reviews the literature on electricity security concepts and their evaluation methods. The material of this study are mainly peer-reviewed articles collected form IEEE, Web of Science, and Science Direct Databases. The articles were analyzed in order to conclude the various definitions, dimensions, and modeling methodologies used to evaluate electricity security. Based on this analysis, the definitions of electricity security were found to be dynamic and contextual in nature, and they also included the recent highest emphasis on particular dimensions, including reliability aspects and environmental sustainability. In addition, it was found that, although various modeling methodologies for assessing electricity security were implemented, there are still certain important gaps, especially when future-oriented approaches are considered. A review of definitions, dimensions, and commonly used methodologies of electricity security assessment can provide insights for further methodological development to study different aspects of electricity security.
