At present there is a practical need in the development of new energy-efficient intracavity methods for the formation and selection of transverse modes with a given state of polarization of the output continuous radiation in quantum generators of the terahertz range. Such sources are necessary to solve important fundamental and applied problems associated with interaction of electromagnetic waves with matter and need high-quality basic characteristics of laser radiation to diagnose materials surface, thin films, biological objects, in THz information transmission and processing systems, to excite ring resonators of metamaterials etc. A method for creating a separate transverse mode with azimuthal polarization of the field in a quasi-optical laser resonator of the terahertz range using polarization-selective large-scale and small-scale diffraction gratings as nonuniform mirrors of both transmission and reflected types is proposed. An experimental confirmation of effective excitation of the transverse TE 01q mode with azimuthal polarization of radiation at the output of the optically pumped waveguide HCOOH laser ( λ = 0.4326 mm) with input reflective large-scale diffraction mirrors and with output partly transmissive small-scale mirrors is obtained. |
