Popis: An overview of the Department of Defense research and development activities in superconductivity is presented. Efforts exist in the Navy, Air Force, ARPA, BMDO and NSA. Highlights of activities in each of these organizations will be discussed. In general, the DOD efforts in superconductivity are in the electronics areas with major programs in space applications, digital electronics, millimeter, microwave and tera-hertz applications, antenna, and sensors (magnetic, i.r., high frequency). Significant efforts also exist in power applications as they specifically relate to ship propulsion and aircraft power generation.
