Popis: Axisymmetric equilibria which can exist in the Maryland Spheromak experiment are computed for various assumptions of plasma pressure and poloidal current profiles. Boundary conditions on the poloidal flux are determined by the vacuum vessel shape, and the location and shape of the quasi-static equilibrium magnetic field coils. Information on the size and shape of the plasma, magnetic field magnitudes, helicity and energy content, plasma beta, and safety factor is obtained. For small deviation from the minimum energy state, experimental parameters needed to achieve the desired equilibrium are derived. In particular, to attain the design on-axis magnetic field of 25 kG, an equilibrium coil current of ~1.4 kA into the 600 turn coils is required, which is well below the maximum design current of 4.2 kA. Using the computed equilibria, magnetic measurements made outside the plasma may be used to estimate the equilibrium quantities obtained in the experiment.
