Popis:	The rice Wx gene controls the production of amylose. It is expressed only in the ecdosperm, pollen and embryo-sac. We have scanned about 1 kb of its 5’-upstream region for DNA-binding proteins in the rice maturing seeds. Gel retardation and competition experiments showed that some nuclear proteins could specifically bind to three separate fragments in this region, and these specific DNA-binding proteins were different. Nuclear extracts were also made from leaves, pollens and roots. At the same total protein concentration, they had weaker binding activities with probes than extract from the endosperm where Wx gene is most abundantly expressed.
