Popis: Fungi from the genus Septoria are known for their ability to incite severe epidemics in Graminae. Over the years a considerable body of literature has accumulated on variation in pathogenicity of two major cereal pathogens from the genus — Septoria nodorum Berk. [=Stogonospora nodorum (Berk.) Cast. et Germ.], anamorph of Leptosphaeria nodorum Mueller [=Phaesphaeria nodorum (Mueller) Hedjaroude] and Septoria tritici Rob. ex. Desm., anamorph of Mycosphaerella gramimcola (Fuckel) Schroeter. Despite many studies no clear host specificity was found to occur in populations of the S. nodorum. On the other hand physiological forms at the host species level are known in populations of S. avenae Frank, anamorph of L. avenaria Weber [=Phaeosphaeria avenaria (Weber)Erikss.] — another cereal pathogen from the genus Septoria.
