Type material. Lectotype of Helops tentyrioides (DEI), ♀ designated here (according to the article 61 of ICZN), with labels: “Tentyrioides Waltl Graecia Waltl”, “H. 239.”, “95”, green square, “ Syntypus ”, “ DEI Müncheberg Col - 04148”. Holotype of Micispa bysantica (ZMMU), ♀ with original labels of V. Motschulsky: “ Micispina bysantica Motsch Bosphor ”, “Bosphor”, “type”. Holotype of Micispa pyraei (ZMMU), ♀ with original labels of V. Motschulsky: “ Micispina Pyraei Motsl Graecia”, “type”. Holotype of Micispa graeca (ZMMU), ♀ with original labels of V. Considering the original description of Motschulsky we have no doubts that these three species were described on the basis of a single female each. Material. 1♂, 1♀: Attica (leg. Reitter) (ZIN). Distribution. Greece: Thessaly (Volos), Phokis (Parnassus), Attica (Athens, Kifissia), Saronic Islands (Poros), Cyclades (Syros), Peloponnese (Taygetos); Western Turkey: Istanbul Province, Izmir (!) (Ferrer & L. Soldati 1999). Comments. Baudi di Selve (1876, 1877) included Hedyphanes in the genus Helops sensu lato as a subgenus. This action resulted in a homonymy: Helops (Hedyphanes) tentyrioides (Faldermann, 1837) and Helops (Euboeus) tentyrioides Küster, 1851. Therefore he proposed a new substitute name Helops parvicollis for Helops tentyrioides Küster, 1851 to replace the junior secondary homonym. However, the classification of Baudi di Selve was not accepted by his contemporaries or subsequent researchers. Hedyphanes is interpreted as a distinct genus and Helops parvicollis as the junior synonym of Helops tentyrioides Küster, 1851 (Seidlitz 1896). The name Helops parvicollis is nomen oblitum because it has not been used as a valid name after 1899 (ICZN, article 23.9.1.1). |
