In the second lecture, Xu Bing answers questions collected from students of East Asian Art History, Heidelberg University, and the audience. Xu particularly addresses how he adjusts his installations according to different exhibition spaces and diverse audiences, concepts of nature in his art, Chinese counterfeit culture and authorship in contemporary art, and challenges Chinese artists face today. His July 11, 2015 address was supported by the Heinz Gotze Foundation as part of the Institute’s Distinguished Visiting Professor program. |
