Popis: Recrystallization takes place in the central bent part of ice single crystals plastically deformed by the method of three point bending. This process was observed with timelapse 16 m/m movie camera. The area of the recrystallized grain were measured from enlarged photographs of movie frames taken intermittently from films. At the steady state, the area S increased linearly with time t is expressed, as S=kt+C, where k is the areal speed of the grain growth.Since the grain grew in similar figures with the common vertical angle, the linear velocity of growing front v is derived as v=k/βr, where β is a constant, and r is the modified diameter of the grain (Fig. 8). Inverse proportionality of v to r was explained by the same relationship between the driving force P and r (eq. 11). The driving force consists of the energy of small angle grain boundaries distributed radially in the bent area and of the grain boundary energy. Then the mobility of the grain boundary M was obtained by dividing the velocity by the drivingforce P and its value ranged (3. 19. 5) × 10-10cm3.dyn.-1sec-1.
