Toolkits can be effective resources providing communities with information and tools to support community-led action in health-promoting palliative care. This chapter provides guidelines for assessing effectiveness of toolkits in empowering communities to strengthen their capacity to support members experiencing death, dying, loss, and grief. It examines seven prominent toolkits that are based upon the principles of health promotion in palliative care, considering their resources against criteria of best practices in toolkit structure. It then provides detailed steps for readers who intend to develop their own toolkit to strengthen community capacity. The chapter also includes links to resources and toolkits for building an effective toolkit. |
